The Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers , have reached a tentative deal to end the four-month-long strike. The deal includes higher pay and a stable pay structure for writers, as well as fairer deals and contracts and provisions about artificial intelligence.
The deal still needs to be ratified by the WGA members, which is expected to happen by early October. The strike has affected thousands of workers in Hollywood, including actors, recording artists, radio personalities and other media professionals.
The strike has also delayed or halted the production of several major TV shows and movies, such as The Last of Us, Stranger Things, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and more .
The return of filming and releasing of new content depends on whether the actors’ union also reaches a deal with the AMPTP, which is still in negotiations. Let’s keep our fingers cross, that everything works out for the actors and writers.
