Mac and Cheese Recipe Ingredients:
Elbow macaroni 8 ounces
Sharp Cheddar cheese (shredded) 2 cups
American cheese (cut into strips) 8 ounces
Milk 2 cups
Butter 2 tablespoons
All-purpose flour 2 tablespoons
Ground black pepper ¼ teaspoon
Salt to taste
Cooking Instructions:
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Cook the Pasta: Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook until al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Stir in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes to form a roux (this helps thicken the sauce).
Slowly whisk in the milk, continuing to stir until the mixture thickens and is smooth.
Add the shredded sharp cheddar and American cheese to the sauce. Stir until the cheese melts completely.
Mix the cheese sauce with the drained macaroni in a baking dish. Season with salt and ground black pepper to taste. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes, or until hot and bubbly.
